This 5-day course will cover a wide range of established and emerging topics in oncometabolism, from basic concepts, to recent breakthroughs, advanced techniques, and clinical applications.

Session topics are:
  • Session I. Addressing Tumour Metabolism
  • Session II. The Metabolism of Tumour Cells
  • Session III. Signalling and Tumour Metabolism
  • Session IV. Cell Death and Metabolic Cancer Therapies
  • Session V. Mitochondria, Immunity, and Cancer Stem Cells

Although the focus of the course is on oncometabolism, there will also be lectures on other areas of cancer research, as well as lectures on metabolic regulation, metabolism imaging and metabolomics. In addition, there will be tutorials on fluorescence microscopy, statistics and modelling.

The programme provides participants with ample opportunities for presenting and discussing their own work: all poster sessions will be preceded by flash poster presentations, given by up to 25 participants, and up to 10 other participants will be selected to give short talks.

A “Speed Dating with the Experts” session will be an excellent opportunity to ask questions and establish new professional relationships.

The social programme includes a half-day visit to the Old Campus of the University of Coimbra, classified by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, as well as lunch at the Buçaco forest (Portuguese: Mata Nacional do Buçaco), an ancient, walled arboretum very close to Luso.
